This is not a complaint. Waterproofing was solved forty years ago. A technically excellent rain shell costs about $180 and looks like a rain shell. Everything above that buys a silhouette, a fabric hand, and the cultural position of the person who made it. ALD sells that position better than almost anyone, which is why the brand exists and why the jacket is $695.
Whether it is worth it depends on how you feel walking down a street in it, which we cannot measure for you and nobody should pretend is irrational.
Buy it because you like it. Do not buy it because of the rain.
