DJI Mic Mini 2S

The Mic Mini 2S transmitter weighs approximately 12 g with its magnetic front cover, runs about 11 hours, reaches 400 m in open ground, and records 32-bit float internally with room for up to 28 hours of 24-bit audio.

Thirty-two bit float is the specification that matters and it is badly explained everywhere, so: it means you cannot clip. In ordinary 24-bit recording you set a level before you start, and if the speaker suddenly laughs or shouts, the waveform hits the ceiling and the peak is gone permanently. Thirty-two bit float stores such a vast dynamic range that a loud moment is simply a large number, and you pull it back down afterwards with no damage. It converts the single most common way to ruin a recording into a thing that cannot happen.

That it records onto the transmitter is the other half. Wireless links drop. Receivers run out of battery. A microphone that keeps its own copy of the take means the radio failing is an inconvenience rather than the end of the shoot.

DJI does not list a price on the specification page, which is DJI behaviour. It sits at around half the flagship Mic 3.
