DJI Mic Mini 2S

The Mic Mini 2S transmitter weighs about 12 g with its magnetic front cover, runs about eleven hours, reaches 400 m in open ground, and records 32-bit float internally with room for up to twenty-eight hours of 24-bit audio.

Thirty-two bit float is the specification that matters and it is explained badly everywhere, so plainly: it cannot clip. In ordinary 24-bit recording you set a level before you start, and if the speaker laughs or shouts the waveform hits the ceiling and the peak is gone for good. Thirty-two bit float stores a range so large that a loud moment is simply a large number, pulled back down afterwards with nothing lost. It turns the most common way to ruin a recording into something that cannot happen.

Recording onto the transmitter is the other half. Wireless links drop. Receivers run out of battery. A microphone that keeps its own copy of the take makes a radio failure an inconvenience rather than the end of a shoot.

DJI does not print a price on the specification page, which is DJI behaviour. It sits at around half the flagship Mic 3.
