Decent Espresso Bengle

Decent Espresso has announced the Bengle, coming in 2026 at $6,000. It warms up in two minutes, carries a waterproof integrated scale accurate to 0.1 g and good to 2.8 kg, runs a new water pump, and is driven by a large Android tablet. The steam wand has a non-stick tip to cut heat loss.

Six thousand dollars is a lot of money for a machine that makes a drink you can buy for four, and the usual way to justify that number is to attach a screen to a pump and call it professional. What makes the Bengle worth your attention is that the screen is the oldest part of the idea. Decent has been shipping a tablet-driven machine for eight years and publishing what it learns, including the parts that did not work, which is not how appliance companies behave.

The two-minute warmup is the specification that changes a morning. Most prosumer machines want fifteen to thirty minutes to come to temperature, which means either planning your coffee the night before or leaving a 1,400 W boiler switched on. Two minutes makes espresso a decision rather than a schedule.

The scale being inside the machine matters for a duller reason. Good espresso is a ratio of grams in to grams out, and the usual arrangement is a separate scale on the drip tray, a phone timer, and an argument. Putting a 0.1 g scale under the cup removes two of those.

Decent says on its own page that the Bengle is under active development and the specification may change. That sentence costs a company sales and almost nobody writes it.
