1792 Wheated Full Proof costs $39.99 for a 375mL bottle and arrives in California, Texas, New York, Florida and Illinois beginning November 2026. It is bottled at 125 proof, which Barton 1792 Distillery describes as full proof because it matches the whiskey's original entry proof into the barrel rather than being cut down afterward.
The mashbill is the same one behind 1792 Sweet Wheat, first released in 2015, which substitutes wheat for the rye usually found in a bourbon recipe. Wheat tends to soften a whiskey's edges and push it toward sweetness rather than spice. What Wheated Full Proof changes is not the grain but the strength, and strength changes how a whiskey reads. A higher proof carries more of the barrel's extract into the glass: more oak tannin, more of the caramel and fruit notes the distillery attributes to this mashbill, and a longer finish, according to the distillery's own tasting notes.
This is Barton's established move with the 1792 range: take a mashbill people already know and re-issue it at a different proof point to show what the same wood and grain look like under more pressure. The distillery calls this a bold evolution of Sweet Wheat, built to preserve its sweetness while adding depth, and that is a fair description of the strategy across the lineup.
The bottle is small, which keeps the commitment small too. Sweet Wheat has picked up Double Gold and Gold awards across recent spirits competitions, and this release is explicitly built to extend that reputation rather than depart from it. Master Distiller Ross Cornelissen frames it as an entry point for drinkers curious about higher proof as much as a treat for those who already seek it out.

A clean demonstration of what proof alone does to a mashbill people already know, priced to make the comparison easy.
