Tenable Riflestock B2131S2
A gunstock-pattern slipjoint with a 2.34-inch Nitro-V blade and no lock, built to clear pockets a locking knife cannot, $65.

Photos: Tenable
The Riflestock B2131S2 costs $65. It is a slipjoint folder designed by Nick Swan, who has also designed for Kansept and Kizer, and it is a modern take on the classic gunstock-pattern slipjoint.
The blade is a modified drop point at 2.34 inches, finished in blackwash over Nitro-V steel. Nitro-V is a budget steel chosen for toughness, edge retention and resistance to corrosion rather than for pedigree, and it is the right choice at this price because the blade length and the non-locking mechanism are doing the legal work. A folder this short, without a lock, clears most jurisdictions that a locking blade will not.
The handle is shred carbon fiber with bronze-toned hardware and a lanyard hole, and that is where the knife earns the word gentlemanly. There is no pocket clip. Tenable has left the knife minimal rather than tactical, which is a choice that costs nothing in materials and changes how the object reads on a desk. It weighs 1.66 ounces, light enough to disappear in a pocket.
The B2131S2 sits in the middle of a four-knife range that runs from $50, for a military green model, to $80, for a version with Damascus steel. The $65 price point is where the carbon fiber and bronze hardware show up, and it is the version worth the attention. Nothing here claims to be a hard-use knife, and it should not be asked to be one. It is a slipjoint for a desk and a jacket pocket, built to look more expensive than it is without pretending to be something else.

The verdict
A handsome slipjoint at a price that has no business producing one. Take the B2131S2 over the cheaper olive version if the carbon fiber matters to you, and skip the Damascus unless you want to spend the extra $15 on looks alone.
